Whilst i must commend the current effort that has produced this wonderful web resource. it could be better though.

it is not a major over haul just a reskinnign and refresh of the details to make the site a bit more co-herent.

I agree with your suggestion, the website could use a major upgrade from the simplicity of the basic layout.
